During her studies there, Dr. Sheila T. Birth was elected to Omicron Kappa Epsilon and the Baylor Odontological Honor Society based on her scholarship and achievement. She graduated in 1984 third in her class. Dr. Birth then completed her two years of orthodontic training at the University of Oklahoma, attaining her master of science in 1986. Dr. Birth attends continuing education courses every year since she considers continued education very important for proficient orthodontists. Dr. Birth is able to provide her patients with excellent diagnoses and orthodontic treatment because she has years of additional training beyond her required dental education.
Dr. Birth’s awards and achievements are numerous. In February 1999, the American Board of Orthodontics honored Dr. Sheila T. Birth with Diplomate status. This status is reserved for orthodontists with outstanding education and clinical expertise. Diplomates must also pass a three-phase examination: Phase I – Application; Phase II – Written Examination; and Phase III – Clinical Examination. Since only 38 percent of all orthodontists are chosen to be Diplomates – or a total of only 3,000 orthodontists in the world – obtaining certification is a unique achievement.
Dr. Sheila T. Birth works closely with the other orthodontists at our Fort Worth, Arlington, and Burleson offices. She is also active in many other professional organizations, including the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Southwestern Society of Orthodontics, the Fort Worth District Dental Society, and the American Association of Orthodontics. Her membership in the American Association of Orthodontics ensures that she has met the standards of training, education, and experience for orthodontists. Dr. Birth is one of the top 100 Invisalign® Doctors in the United States and has been designated an Elite Provider in Invisalign®. For five consecutive years, she was peer-nominated as a Top Doctor in Fort Worth magazine and a Top Orthodontist in Texas Monthly magazine. She was also named Business Woman of the Year in 2006. Sheila Birth, D.D.S., M.S. has been chosen to participate in the People to People Ambassador Program through the American Association of Orthodontics. This program is beneficial to the practice because Dr Birth brings new technology and new treatment ideas from all over the world.
